ARTIST STATEMENT


Art conservation forms the foundational core of my multidisciplinary practice. From my profession as a conservator-restorer, I draw both technical knowledge and a sense of responsibility, recognizing the potential contained within every individual fragment, just as one does when restoring a work of art. Guided by the same principle, I regard the care of each single element as the starting point for transforming fragility into collective awareness.

My approach is interdisciplinary and reflects on the necessity and urgency of a metamorphosis toward new forms of understanding, beginning with the image as threshold, expanded space, and possibility. Photography is often hybridized with hand-executed embossed incisions (embossing), made directly onto the photographic print. This process gives each work a tactile, three-dimensional presence while ensuring its uniqueness and irreproducibility.

More recently, my practice has evolved by extending the principles of conservation into the ecological sphere. This approach is grounded in knowledge and long-term vision, recognizing the more-than-human world as a potential co-author of my works, with the aim of affirming its integrity and its right to preservation. Informed by a posthumanist sensibility, I focus on environmental issues by assigning semantic value to materials, particularly through practices of reuse and reversibility. Within this perspective, I redefine my own role by adopting a decentered and relational position, fully aware of the fragile balances at stake and moving beyond the notion of the human self as the sole measure of the world.



Il restauro artistico rappresenta il nucleo fondativo della mia ricerca multidisciplinare. Dalla professione di restauratrice traggo tecnica e responsabilità per valorizzare la potenzialità del tutto racchiusa in ogni singolo frammento, come accade in un’ opera d’arte da recuperare. Con lo stesso principio identifico la cura del singolo elemento come il punto di partenza per trasformare la fragilità in consapevolezza collettiva. Il mio approccio è trasversale e riflette sulla necessità e sull’urgenza di una metamorfosi verso il nuovo, a partire da un’immagine che si fa soglia, spazio ulteriore ed eventualità, ibridandosi anche con la grafia incisa a sbalzo (embossing), eseguita manualmente direttamente sulla stampa fotografica, conferendo a ogni opera una forma tattile e tridimensionale e un carattere unico e irripetibile.
Recentemente la mia pratica si è evoluta declinando il restauro in ambito ecologico: un approccio fondato su conoscenza e visione a lungo termine, riconoscendo al non umano una valenza potenziale di co-autore delle mie opere, nell’intento di sottolineare e preservare la sua integrità e il suo diritto alla conservazione. Con sensibilità post-umanista mi concentro su queste tematiche ambientali dando valore semantico ai materiali, anche in ottica di riuso e reversibilità. In questa prospettiva ridefinisco il mio ruolo assumendo una posizione decentrata e relazionale, consapevole delle fragilità degli equilibri in gioco, superando l’idea di me come misura unica del mondo.
